Digital Cameras Come in All Sizes and Configurations.

When digital cameras were developed in the 1970's by Eastman Kodak he proved that digital images could be captured and stored on a different medium. Although the capabilities of the digital camera doesn't compare to the ones we have today,(such as the Canon PowerShot sd450 digital camera) this was the beginning of the digital technologies.

In the beginning the cameras were fairly large and required other pieces of equipment depending on the job to be done. This necessitated carrying the extra equipment in a bag to insure that you had the piece you needed for the shot you were trying to get especially if you were a professional photographer. Add to that the cost was a lot higher the regular camera that used film.

If you have a cell phone it probably has a miniature digital camera already installed in it. These cameras take a good quality picture and provides convenience and portablility, meaning you only have to carry the one item.

Digital cameras today come in all sizes and configurations. The prices vary depending on your personal requirement. They can hang in a case from your shoulder, fit in the palm of your hand, your shirt pocket, a purse, or hanging on a keychain.

The definition of a pixel according to Webster's dictionary is:
Pixel-The smallest element of an image that can be individually processed in a video display system.

If you are someone who needs clearer pictures or large photos you will need more pixels. For example if you are a professional wedding photographer, you will need a camera with a higher pixel amount than maybe a mother taking a spontaneous photo while at the park with her children. Luckily there is a wide variety of cameras with the amount of pixels available being different depending on the type of digital camera you buy.

I recommend and have for my personal use a Canon PowerShot sd450 Digital Camera.
